Dad’s Got Class

June 18, 2010 by kristin

Maybe it’s cliché, but we’re talking the school of beer, bbq and Hogs.   Nothing more.

1)  Beer 101 with the Beer Chicks ($)

How intimate are you with your beer palate?  Dad’ll get to know his better with LA’s renowned beer sommeliers Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune.   “Beers” the subject and girl instructors – this class should be included in every alma mater curriculum.  Hosted at Santa Monica fave Rustic Canyon (June 19).  Tickets still available online.  Note: “Alma mater” is Latin for “nourishing mother.”

2)  Grill Like Gordon Ramsey ($$ – $$$)

It’s sizzling hot over at The London, West Hollywood.  Learn to grill like a pro from Gordon Ramsey’s culinary team in their Grilling Masterclass (June 19).  Here’s the rub, it’s a pricey ticket ($350 for you and Dad), so if you’d rather not sweat it and just enjoy the spoils, make reservations for Sunday’s BBQ Feast ($85 pp) featuring Maine lobster, NY Strip and more.

3) Hog Wild ($$ – $$$$)

Leathered up and longing for the thrill of the open road?  Make your (or Dad’s) Easy Rider fantasies come true with lessons on a Harley, bike included.   What?  Skilled rider already, but no bike, Captain America?  Route 66 Riders, Marina Del Rey, rents Harleys.  With their “Fly & Ride” program you can ride Route 66 Los Angeles to Chicago or any direction in between.  Kick it all off at Harley-Davidson of Glendale’s 3rd Annual “Summer Rumble” (June 26).  Custom cars and bikes, live music, tattoos and beer garden for your favorite softhearted, bad-ass Big Daddy.

Not-To-Miss Event: ESPN’s X-Games 16 (July 29 – Aug. 1) return to Los Angeles.  Tickets on sale June 24.  ‘Nuff said.

Happy Dad’s Day and don’t forget to tell ‘em “Kristin sent me.”
